Sephora has followed its rival Ulta in launching a store-within-a-store strategy with a major retailer, planning to open locations within 200 Kohl’s stores in fall 2021 and expand to at least 850 stores by 2023.
The 2,500-square-foot “Sephora at Kohl’s” spaces will be located at the front of Kohl’s stores and will offer a curated selection of more than 100 beauty brands, a collaboration the department store chain hopes will bring in new and younger customers.
Last month, Target Corp. and Ulta Beauty announced they had signed an agreement to open 100 Ulta mini-shops inside Target locations in the second half of 2021.
The multi-year agreement is expected to eventually include hundreds more Target locations.
