For the fifth month in a row, total passenger counts at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport have increased from the previous month.

The region’s primary airport recorded 1,578,524 total passengers that either flew into or out of Sky Harbor during September, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Phoenix Aviation Department. That is up slightly from the 1.4 million in August and up even more from the 282,000 in April and 584,000 in May.

While passenger numbers in September were significantly higher than in the spring, they were still down 54.3% from the 3.5 million people that went through Sky Harbor’s terminals in September 2019.

In total, 9,023 flights landed at Sky Harbor, which was a 37.8% decrease from August 2019.
