Homebuilding permits are up 16% in metro Phoenix, showing strong growth this year and showing no signs of being affected by the pandemic.
Year to date through November, homebuilders secured 26,374 permits across the Valley, up from 22,650 during the same period in 2019, according to the most recent data from the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona.
The city of Avondale had the biggest growth so far this year, with a 336% spike in single-family home building permits issued. That's most likely a result of the ramped-up activity at Alamar, a 1,130-acre master-planned community being developed by Brookfield Residential Properties Inc. that will include 3,695 homes.
Despite the effects of Covid-19 that have hampered some industries, the 2020 housing industry has been nothing short of booming, said Jim Belfiore, founder of Belfiore Real Estate Consulting in Phoenix.
