PHOENIX — A coronavirus vaccination site is opening at Grand Canyon University on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

GCU announced that the Point of Dispensing site will be operating between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the first week it is open.

It's expected that between 500 and 800 doses will be given per day during that time.

"At the request of the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, during the first week of operation the GCU POD will accommodate individuals in need of their second dose from the Phase 1A vaccine dissemination protocol," a media release said Friday.

However, in an update, GCU said some appointments were still open for the first week, allowing opportunities for first doses, though they expect spots to fill up quickly.

Patients must be registered and have an appointment time to receive a vaccine. Registration can be done through the Arizona Department of Health Services website.
