WELLTON, AZ — U.S. Border Patrol reportedly caught a man with 37 pounds of meth and fentanyl hidden in the rear seat of his car recently.

According to Border Patrol officials, on July 26, agents were conducting an immigration stop on Interstate 8 near Sentinel, Arizona when a drug dog alerted them to a car with drugs inside.

When agents searched the vehicle, they reportedly found 11 packages of narcotics hidden in the rear seat. Abraham Aguilera Sanchez, 24, was detained and allegedly told investigators that he was being paid $5,000 to transport the drugs from Mexico to the U.S.

Agents say they seized 35 pounds of meth and two pounds of what they believe to be fentanyl-laced pills. Court records show the value of the drugs to be $27,000 for the meth and $200,000 for the fentanyl.

Sanchez was arrested on multiple drug trafficking charges.
