PHOENIX — A citizen helped Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers with the arrest of a wrong-way driver.
DPS reports that about 1 a.m. on January 17, a citizen contacted them regarding a wrong-way driver on SR-51 near Camelback Road.
The witness reported that he was traveling north on SR-51 in the HOV lane when he saw headlights coming toward him. He stopped and blared his horn, until the driver, 28-year-old Eduardo Barreda Campos, performed a U-turn.
The citizen followed Campos and later identified him to DPS officials.
DPS says Campos registered a .174 blood-alcohol content on a preliminary blood test.
He's been charged with aggravated DUI.
