NEAR PAYSON, AZ — Two motorcyclists were purposely chased and struck by a man in a work truck on March 10, leaving both riders severely injured, according to court documents.
DPS reports that on March 10, they responded to a hit-and-run collision on Arizona Highway 87 about 35 miles South of Payson.
The two motorcyclists were struck by white Toyota Tacoma work truck before it fled toward Payson, according to court records.
The speeding truck was located by deputies with the Gila County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) and pursued by GCSO deputies, DPS, and Payson police.
The truck was later spiked and collided head-on into a DPS trooper vehicle, according to DPS.
The suspect, 41-year-old Sean Barker, fought with arresting officers before being tased and taken into custody.
A male victim was severely injured in the collision suffering from a punctured lung, road rash, a broken ankle, and five broken ribs. A female motorcycle rider was also struck but not injured.
Barker is currently being held in a Gila County jail but has been charged in Maricopa County with two counts of aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
