A daycare bus driver has been charged with child abuse after reportedly leaving a 5-year-old on the bus this past August.
Glendale Police report that on August 25, a bus driver for Nana's Place Daycare picked up the 5-year-old boy from school and brought him to the daycare facility at 43rd and Peoria avenues.
Police say the driver, 32-year-old Kristy Ann Totman, failed to check the bus for any children left behind. The child was reportedly left in the shutdown bus for 21 minutes, while the outside temperatures reached 105 degrees that day.
Daycare staff began searching for the boy when his mother arrived to pick him up.
Police say he was treated for mild dehydration but did not suffer any serious injuries.
Totman allegedly told police that she did check the bus but did not see the child. However, police say, the bus is small and her claim is "unlikely."
A records check revealed that Totman served three years in prison on drug charges and was released in 2012.
She has been charged with child abuse and is set to appear in court on November 29.
ABC15 has learned Totman no longer works at the daycare center.
