Authorities have arrested a man for shooting his wife several times last week.

Gerardo Parra, 34, was arrested and booked into jail on charges of second-degree attempted murder, endangerment and aggravated assault in the March 23 shooting at his home near 37th Avenue and Dunlap Road.

Police initially responded to a report of domestic violence and found a woman suffering from several gunshot wounds. Police records said the woman was shot in the leg and broke her femur.

Parra was found standing next to his wife, who was lying on the sidewalk and bleeding. He denied shooting his wife, but did admit to being under the influence of methamphetamine.

The couple's three children were inside the home at the time and were not hurt.
