A manager with the Arizona Department of Economic Security has been arrested on a warrant for child molestation and other child sex charges.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested 58-year-old Leon Hines at the DES office near Central Avenue and Roeser Road.

According to court paperwork, Hines was arrested on March 12 on a grand jury warrant of allegations that occurred on March 5.

The court paperwork lists six victims and the charges of child molestation, kidnapping, sexual abuse, furnishing obscene materials to minors and 11 counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Hines listed his employment as a manager with DES, having worked there the past 17 years.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges last week.

His next court appearance is May 1.

A spokesperson for DES confirmed late Monday night that Hines was no longer employed with the department.
