MESA, AZ — A man was tazed as deputies removed a kidnapper from a Mesa guest house.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reports that early Tuesday morning, they responded to a home near Hawes and Broadway roads for a reported kidnapping.

When they arrived, the property owner informed them that he believed his father, who lives in the guest house, was being held there by 38-year-old William Sidney Trentham, who is a friend.

Deputies spoke with Trentham who refused to let them into the home. Deputies were able to find an open window and as they pulled back the curtain, they reportedly found the victim sitting on a bed. They reportedly said he was "scared and kept his head down."

MCSO says the victim was too scared to speak to them, but motioned for them to come in. Deputies continued to plead with Trentham to release the victim, as the victim said, "Let me leave."

At the request of deputies, the victim locked himself in the bathroom, as deputies fired a taser through the open window and entered the house.

The victim later informed MCSO that he saw Trentham inject himself with drugs twice earlier that day.

Trentham was arrested for kidnapping, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
