MESA, AZ — An alleged DUI driver has been charged after hitting a motorcycle rider in Mesa, according to police.
Mesa police report that on December 8, witnesses saw Jose Lopez Espinoza, 47, driving erratically near Broadway and Alma School roads. Witnesses reportedly told police that Espinoza nearly hit a pedestrian and almost drove up on a sidewalk.
Shortly after, near Center Street and Broadway Road, Espinoza allegedly turned in front of a motorcyclist, causing a crash. Court records show that the motorcyclist sustained several internal injuries and two broken legs.
A preliminary breath test showed Espinoza's B.A.C. to be .181.
He has been charged with aggravated assault.
