A man was arrested for shooting and killing a man who was arguing with his sister in Laveen.

On October 12, police responded to a home near 59th Avenue and Baseline Road for a report of shots fired.

Police found a 22-year-old man dead, having been shot twice.

The victim’s vehicle was located a few days later and was being driven by a man who claimed to be a witness to the murder.

He claimed 19-year-old Jaylin Kishon Lumpkin shot and killed the victim.

He reportedly told police that Lumpkin's sister and the victim were arguing and it was becoming physical. Lumpkin allegedly stood between them and shot the victim.

He allegedly shot him again when he was on the floor.

Upon his arrest, Lumpkin reportedly claimed, "He shot (the victim) because he was trying to protect his sister." Police say there is no indication that the victim was armed.

Lumpkin is being held on a $1,000,000 bond for second-degree murder.
