PHOENIX — Phoenix police have made an arrest in the murder of a 28-year-old man that occurred at a Phoenix night club on New Year’s Day.

Police report that on January 1, they responded to a hospital where a man had died from a gunshot wound.

A witness told police the shooting occurred near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road in a night club parking lot.

The shooting victim was identified as 28-year-old German Rico.

Police say Rico got into an altercation with Luis Eduardo Ambriz, 22, inside the club.

The two allegedly agreed to settle their differences with a physical fight in the parking lot, police say.

Surveillance video reportedly shows a fight with multiple people involved, including Rico and Ambriz.

At one point, police say, Ambriz broke away from the fight, reached into a car and grabbed a handgun. He then allegedly shot Rico and drove away.

Police received information identifying Ambriz as the shooter and were able to locate and arrest him on Wednesday.

Ambriz is being held on a $1,000,000 bond for first-degree murder.
