MESA, AZ — Mesa brothers were caught after stealing a prison van in Mesa, police say.

Mesa police report that on March 6 they were called to a QuikTrip station near Greenfield and Baseline roads for a reported stolen vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was a Department of Corrections prison van.

Later, other officers reported spotting the van near Alma School Road and Main Street about 10 miles away.

There, police arrested 23-year-old Eugeno Julian Flores and his brother, 21-year-old Juan Jesus Flores.

The brothers reportedly told police that they were recently kicked out of a group home and looking for a place to stay.

The saw that the van at the QT was unlocked, so they went inside to sleep.

After finding keys in the visor, they decided to take the van.

The Flores bothers have been charged with burglary and vehicle theft.
