LAVEEN, AZ — Two men impersonating U.S. Marshals invade a home in Laveen.
Phoenix police report that on June 24 two men wearing badges and shirts with "U.S. Marshals" printed on them came to a home near 59th and Southern avenues. They knocked on the door and asked for a known relative and then reportedly pushed the woman into the house.
Armed with handguns the suspects, later identified as Anthony David Espejo, 46, and Frankie Cancannon, 49, restrained her husband with zip ties. Police say they stole cash, jewelry, vehicle, and house keys and phones.
At one point, police say, the male victim broke his restraints, fought with the suspects, escaped and called the police.
The suspects then fled in an SUV.
The SUV was seen leaving by surveillance cameras on the perimeter fence of the gated community.
Investigators were able to link the SUV to Cancannon.
Two days later it was learned that Cancannon and Espejo were arrested in Pinal county for weapons offenses after a traffic stop.
PCSO deputies allegedly found ballistic vests, guns, fake badges and stolen items in the SUV.
