An El Mirage woman has been severely beaten with a bat, allegedly by her ex-husband.

El Mirage police report that on June 13 they were called to a hospital regarding a domestic violence attack, with a baseball bat.

The victim has an order of protection against 50-year-old Charles Gibson, who came to her home near Dysart and Thunderbird roads.

He allegedly threatened the woman with the bat, asking her if she had been sleeping with law enforcement officers because he had been arrested several times.

The victim reportedly told police that she was struck about ten times with the bat after he tried to tell her to disrobe.

The woman tried to pad the blows with pillows. Gibson later left the home and the woman's roommate, who had returned home, took her to the hospital.

Hospital personnel says the victim suffered a broken hand, ankle, leg and fingers.

Gibson was arrested at his home in Phoenix and is being held on a $100,000 bond for aggravated assault.
