PHOENIX — A man was located and arrested after allegedly fleeing a crash scene that injured a child.
Phoenix police report that on the morning of July 28, officers responded to a vehicle crash with injuries near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road.
At the scene, officers found a nine-year-old boy bleeding from the mouth and right ear. The family said the boy also passed out earlier and was dazed.
The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Freddy Luis Ramirez, allegedly stopped for a moment after the crash, but then left in his truck. Family members were able to get a license plate number to the truck.
Police located Ramirez at his nearby home, standing next to the truck. Police say there was visible damage to the truck.
Staff at Phoenix Children's Hospital reported to police that the boy was suffering from a skull fracture.
Ramirez allegedly admitted to police that he drank alcohol and used cocaine the night before.
