TEMPE, AZ — A man who works with unaccompanied immigrant children is arrested for luring a minor for sex.

Tempe police report that on June 28 they arrested Jose Antonio Minjares, 30, for texting with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old boy and requesting sex.

Court records show that Minjares wanted to "teach sex" to the "boy." Police arranged to meet with Minjares near Rural and Broadway roads, where they arrested him.

Minjares reportedly told police that he thought the person he was meeting was 21-years-old, saying he doesn't understand English very well.

Police say all the text messages were in English and Minjares had no problem communicating with them.

Court records show that Minjares works for "Southwest Key, where he organizes social activities for unaccompanied immigrant children ages 2 - 10 years old." Minjares says there was never any abuse of the children.

Minjares was arrested for attempted sexual conduct with a minor and luring a minor for sex.
