MESA, AZ — A Mesa man has been arrested for threatening to shoot students who "messed up his yard" when getting off the bus.

Mesa police report that on September 18, Brett Allen Edison, 50, contacted the Sandra Day O'Connor Elementary School, near Higley Road and University Drive, saying he was going to shoot students for disrupting his yard.

Police say school officials described Edison as "outraged," saying he "doesn't care if he goes to jail." Court records show that Edison was "fully aware that the students (who disrupted his yard) were not from the elementary school."

A police investigation indicated that high school students moved large rocks on his property.

Police arrested Edison the following day at his home about a mile from the school. No weapons were found.

Edison has been charged with interfering with an educational institution and making threats.
