Police believe a man arrested in September in connection with an armed robbery at a Valley Taco Bell is allegedly behind a string of armed robberies in which the suspect wore a Joker mask.
Phoenix Police reported that on Sept. 21 they arrested 23-year-old Baidy Moctar Sy after a Taco Bell near 35th and Southern avenues was robbed.
After the robbery, police found a nearby vehicle with fogged up windows. Sy was inside the car and was arrested by authorities.
Also inside the car, police allegedly found a pair of maroon and yellow gloves. These gloves were mentioned by victims of three armed robberies where one suspect was wearing a Joker mask, with maroon and yellow gloves while pointing a handgun at the victims.
Police say Sy and an accomplice were involved in an armed robbery of a Circle K near 12th Street and Bethany Home Road. They also allegedly robbed two people outside an ATM near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Sy's girlfriend reportedly told police that she found the mask in a laundry bin and one of the stolen items, a Michael Kors purse, was given to her by Sy as a gift.
Police received an anonymous call identifying Sy's alleged accomplice 22-year-old Carlos Kaleb Juarez. Police say cell phone records placed both men in the area of each of the crimes.
Both men are being held on $75,000 bond for multiple armed robberies.
