A Surprise man is accused of assaulting neighbors and family members using a golf club, hammer, and an SUV.

Surprise police report that on May 5 they arrested 53-year-old Kevin Louis Maroney near Reems and Bell roads for multiple counts of aggravated assault.

Police say Maroney has been assaulting his neighbors in ongoing disputes.

On April 11, police say Maroney accused a neighbor of stealing hot dogs from his home and struck him with a golf club.

A couple of weeks later, after an argument, Maroney allegedly drove his SUV up on the sidewalk trying to hit a neighbor, court documents said. The man was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by the car.

Last September, police say Maroney chased a family member out of a shower and into the street while holding a hammer. He then allegedly punched a teenage girl for reporting the incident to police.

Police say Maroney is becoming increasingly violent and has a history of skipping court dates.
