TEMPE, AZ — Tempe officers arrested an alleged drunk driver who was traveling with her two toddlers in the car.

Tempe police report that on May 4 about 10:30 p.m., they responded to the area of 5th Street and Mill regarding a domestic violence situation where an intoxicated woman was driving with her two toddlers in the car.

Police located the car, driven by 44-year-old Velma Fern Dee, and found a "half-full container of alcohol," and another full bottle in the front seat. Police also reportedly found Dee's two children, ages 1 and 2, in their car seats.

Court records show that Dee's preliminary blood test recorded a blood-alcohol level of .118.

The children were given over to their father, according to police.

Court records show that Dee has been a substitute teacher for the past two years.

She has been charged with aggravated D.U.I.
