A 14-year-old drove home her drunken mom and boyfriend who were fighting in the backseat.
Peoria Police report that just after midnight on March 23 they were called to the parking lot at Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road for a family fight. Officers found out the driver of the vehicle, a 14-year-old girl, was forced to drive her mother and her mother's boyfriend home because they had been drinking.
Police say, the boyfriend, 36-year-old Ryan Nicholas Prassas, was assaulting the girl’s mother in the back of the car, by pulling her hair and punching her.
The girl ordered Prassas out of the car and when he tried to get back into the car and assault the mother, the girl tried to keep him out by closing the door. The door slammed Prassas' hand in the doorframe.
Prassas then allegedly attacked the girl.
Witnesses jumped in and separated everyone until police arrived.
Prassas, who is a high school teacher, has been charged with assault and aggravated assault of a minor.
