A woman has been arrested for driving her new car into a Mesa home, knocking a crib and a baby across a room.

Mesa police report that at about 2:30 a.m. on September 29 a Mesa family had a rude awaking.

Damais Isabel Cruz Diaz, age 25, was driving a Pontiac Grand Am that she bought earlier that day. She was driving with some friends when she reportedly lost control making a turn near Mesa Drive and Southern Avenue.

Police say Diaz jumped the curb, hit a horse trailer, then drove into the home.

Two adults, a 5-year-old girl and an infant in a crib were all in the room at the time. Police say the car struck the crib, knocking it and the infant across the room.

Court documents show that there was no evidence of Diaz making any attempt to stop the vehicle.

The damage to the home is estimated to be about $2,000.

Diaz has been charged with criminal damage and multiple counts of endangerment.
