A Valley man upset with a title loan company tried to set his truck on fire, according to court records.

Documents show that 45-year-old Erik Arthur Gundersen lit a gas can on fire Wednesday and placed it under his truck as it sat in the parking lot outside of a title loan center.

Police said Gundersen went to the title loan center near 75th Avenue and McDowell Road earlier that day with his wife to get a title loan. He later decided not to get the loan and left the center. His wife, however, stayed and completed the process.

When he returned, Gundersen was upset with the title loan company for completing the loan and later set fire to the truck, which is registered to his wife.

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived in time to put out the fire before any damage was done to the truck.

Court documents said that witnesses pointed Gundersen out to police and he was arrested on arson charges.
