A woman accused of an extreme DUI is accused of driving in north Phoenix with her three young children in the car.

Phoenix police say that on Aug. 22, a concerned citizen was following a vehicle that reportedly nearly struck a car and a barrier on Interstate 17 near Thunderbird Road.

The citizen followed the vehicle to a Jack in the Box, near 35th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, where police detained the woman.

The suspect, 33-year-old Jennifer Daylene Rinehart, allegedly admitted to police that she had three drinks.

Police say they found three small children, ages 7, 6 and 19 months, in the car with her.

Rinehart reportedly had a BAC of .222 — nearly three times the legal limit.

A records check showed she was also driving on a suspended license.

She has been charged with extreme aggravated DUI.
