GLENDALE, AZ — Glendale Police have arrested the person they believe fatally stabbed a 14-year-old boy on November 8, 2019.

Rudy Jaramillo, 30, was arrested Thursday morning for second -degree murder.

On November 8, 2019, Glendale police were called to a home near Grand Avenue and Bethany Home Road on reports of a fight that happened around 11:30 p.m.

Police learned that two people stole a bicycle from the victim’s home. A witness pointed out the suspects and the victim’s family confronted them and retrieved the bike.

The suspect reportedly returned to the home with another man who had a pit bull. Another altercation occurred, and this time Jaramillo charged a family member with a knife.

The victim, 14-year-old Elijah Ochoa-Gamez, reportedly grabbed Jaramillo and wrestled him to the ground.

During the fight, Gamez was stabbed multiple times.

Other family members reportedly tried to intervene but were attacked by the pit bull.

Police say Gamez was taken to an area hospital where he died.

All of the suspects ran away before officers arrived at the scene.

Police later received a tip regarding one of the suspects who was in front of a nearby apartment taking apart a bicycle. When police contacted him they identified Jaramillo as the stabber.

He is being held on a $750,000 bond. His next court appearance is March 5.
