GLENDALE, AZ — Childhood friends who met in jail are accused of murder in Glendale this past weekend.

Glendale police report that on June 29, a witness heard gunshots around 51st Avenue and Bethany Home Road. When he went to investigate, he found a deceased man shot multiple times in the head.

Surveillance video found in the area reportedly shows the victim walking backward from three males who exited a silver Dodge truck. The three males, Emarquis Marquel Beasley, Nathan Xavier Gamez, both 18, and an unnamed juvenile, returned to the truck and fled.

Police say the same truck was used in armed robberies of pedestrians in Phoenix the same morning.

In one robbery, a victim’s cell phone was stolen. Police located the phone at a home near 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road where the trio was arrested.

Court records show that Beasley and Gamez have been friends since they met in jail at age 13.

Beasley, who was on felony release for car theft, is being held without bond for armed robbery and first-degree murder. Gamez is being held on a $1,000,000 cash bond on the same charges.
