Police and adult protective services found a man lying in urine in his apartment with no food.

Records show that the family caregiver of a 72-year-old man with dementia would pay the rent but do little more to care for the man who police found to be neglected, malnourished, and sleeping on the floor in his own urine.

Police report that 45-year-old Lynn My Truong was leasing an apartment near 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road that she didn't live in. She would reportedly come by once a month to pay the rent but never checked in on the person she was supposed to be taking care of.

Police say apartment management voiced concerns about the living conditions in the apartment. They also told police that Truong stopped coming to the apartment altogether, after finding out she could pay the rent online.

The manager also reportedly told police that an in-home nursing care was provided for the victim, but they refused to return because the apartment conditions were so bad.

On October 7, an adult protective services investigator conducted a welfare check on the victim, finding him on the couch covered in urine in the dark. There was also no food in the refrigerator.

Police report that on October 12, they went into the apartment only to find the victim curled in the fetal position laying on the ground, unresponsive and semiconscious.

Truong, the victim's caregiver, was located and arrested on charges of vulnerable adult abuse.
