PHOENIX — Phoenix police have arrested a man in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred early Thursday morning near Whyman Avenue.
According to investigators, a man later identified as 31-year-old Kyle Petty, was given a ride from a 28-year-old female and a 30-year-old male known to him when the shooting occurred.
Officers say Petty became upset when the two did not give him money, and shot the man in the passenger seat and pointed the gun at the woman driving the vehicle.
The woman then drove near 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road and flagged down officers.
The man then was then pronounced dead on the scene by Phoenix firefighters.
Petty then fled the scene on foot and was located and arrested hours later by patrol officers near 91st Avenue and Buckeye Road.
Petty is now facing charges of murder aggravated assault and armed robbery.
