A Hot Wheels car helped police link a theft to a suspect, who was captured with the assistance of a father and his son.
Phoenix Police report that on January 5, a victim’s son observed a man taking items from his father's car outside their home near 16th Avenue and Buckeye Road.
The father contacted police as he and his son followed the suspect, later identified as 51-year-old Sylvester Lee Pinkins.
When police arrived, they searched Pinkins and in his coat pocket, police say, they found a Ford Mustang Hot Wheels car belonging to the victim’s son.
Police say they also found a hard hat, sweater and cell phone chargers which were also reportedly stolen from the victim.
Pinkins has been charged with burglary and theft.
