TEMPE, AZ — Police apprehended a DUI suspect seen going 80 miles per hour using a Taser.

Tempe police report at about 2:30 a.m. on March 29 an officer saw a car moving about 80 mph on Guadalupe Road near Kyrene Road.

When the officer tried to pull over the speeding car, it accelerated through a red light.

The officer pursued the car, driven by 34-year-old Marcos Paloma, as it crossed the center line and drove onto the sidewalk, eventually stopping about two miles away.

Paloma ran from his car and was hit with a Taser before falling to the ground.

He struggled with the officers who were trying to arrest him, even grabbing an officer's genitals, according to a probable cause statement.

After his arrest, Paloma allegedly admitted to drinking six 16-ounce cans of beer at home and another two 16-ounce cans while driving.

Police say his blood-alcohol content was tested at .217, nearly three times the legal limit of .08.
