A print shop employee stole and then sold skybox tickets to the Phoenix Open worth about $50,000.
Scottsdale Police report that on October 13, they arrested 56-year-old Edward Candelario Garcia for stealing and selling skybox tickets for the Waste Management Phoenix Open Golf Tournament in Scottsdale.
Police say Garcia worked at the Phoenix print shop that produced the tickets. He allegedly stole the box of tickets to skybox 16.
Garcia reportedly sold the tickets, first to two ticket brokers, then to individuals outside the tournament. One of the ticket brokers identified Garcia as the man who sold them the stolen tickets.
Police say many of the stolen tickets, held by unsuspecting victims, showed up at the ticket gate.
Upon his arrest, Garcia reportedly admitted to his actions, saying he did it to support his drug habit.
Garcia has been charged with theft and trafficking of stolen property.
