SURPRISE, AZ — A woman was arrested after picking up her child from a Surprise elementary school while under the influence, police say.
According to Surprise police, on February 21, they responded to a report of a reckless driver on Loop 303. A witness reportedly told police that the person was driving erratically, nearly hitting the wall.
The witness followed the driver, later identified as 30-year-old Camryn Ryan Whitehead, as she pulled into an elementary school near Cotton Lane and Greenway Road. The witness reportedly watched as Whitehead picked up a child and left the school.
Surprise police allegedly saw Whitehead leave the school, driving on the shoulder of the road on two occasions.
Upon her arrest, she allegedly admitted to drinking before driving. Police say a breath test recorded a .300 BAC level, more than three times the legal limit.
She has been charged with extreme DUI and aggravated DUI.
