TEMPE — A man was arrested for his third D.U.I. in the past year, posting a B.A.C. nearly five times the legal limit, according to court documents.
Tempe police report that on October 9 around 8 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle near Baseline and Rural roads for driving with the headlights out.
Police say the driver, 49-year-old Paul Derrick Hofman, was extremely unsteady and needed to use his vehicle to support himself.
Hofman allegedly admitted to drinking at home before driving, also saying he had gotten a concussion a few days before.
Court records show that his B.A.C. was .393, nearly five times the legal limit. Court documents also show that Hofman was driving on a suspended license due to two additional prior D.U.I. arrests in the past year.
He has been charged with aggravated D.U.I.
