We're learning more about a deadly crossover crash along Northern Avenue in Peoria Friday night.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reports that 43-year-old Kimberly Leah Scarpatiwas driving her Chevrolet Silverado truck on Northern Avenue near 112th Avenue when she allegedly crossed the centerline striking a Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Corolla was killed on scene and the passenger, a 14-year-old, was taken to Phoenix Children’s hospital with injuries to the ankle, chest and abdomen.
Scarpati was also taken to the hospital with a broken nose and cut arm.
MCSO says a blood draw at the hospital revealed Scarpati had a blood alcohol content of .294, nearly four times the legal limit. She also reportedly tested positive for THC.
Upon her arrest, Scarpati, who works at a holistic patient wellness group in marijuana sales, reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana daily, as she is a Leukemia survivor.
She said she had just come from meeting with coworkers at a Glendale bar.
Scarpati was arrested upon her release from the hospital on charges of manslaughter, endangerment and marijuana possession.
