Wondering how your child's school stacks up when it comes to the well-known AzMERIT test?
The Arizona Department of Education has released 2017-2018 results from the AzMERIT test, and on average, less than half of the students tested in each category passed in Maricopa County.
The test is broken into two categories: English and math.
For a student to be considered "passing" by the State Board of Education, a student must receive a "proficient" or "highly proficient" result from the AzMERIT test.
In the state, only 41 percent of students received a "proficient" or "highly proficient" grade in both their math and English language AzMERIT results. Each of the categories saw a slight increase from 2017, which were 40 and 39 percent, respectively.
