It's the second day of October and this month is already one of wettest on record.
In an update at 10 p.m., The National Weather Service said the 2.36" that had fallen Tuesday made it the wettest October day since recordkeeping began.

The measurements for the Phoenix area come from a gauge at Sky Harbor International Airport. The rainfall also ranked as the 8th wettest day ever for Phoenix.

With the arrival of the remnants of Hurricane Rosa starting over the weekend, NWS said 2.68" of rain had fallen for the month--just two days old but already good enough for the third-wettest October month ever.
Much will need to happen to reach the top of the monthly chart, as 1972 holds the record for wettest October on record at 4.40" of rain.
