PHOENIX — Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes has conceded in his race for re-election.
On Thursday, Fontes tweeted that he called his challenger Stephen Richer to congratulate him.
I’ve called @Richer4Recorder to congratulate him, and will be welcoming Maricopa’s 30th Recorder with a personal tour of our facilities next week.#ProtectDemocracy

This announcement comes as election ballots continue to be counted in Maricopa County and in Arizona. As of Wednesday night, less than 25,000 votes remain uncounted, with the focus on the narrowing race between President Trump and President-elect Joe Biden.
Richer has not yet released a statement.
