PHOENIX — Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego has been elected for her first full, four-year term.
Mayor Gallego was appointed to her position in March 2019 to finish the term of Mayor Greg Stanton, who was elected to Congress.
“I am thrilled and ready to continue the important work we’ve accomplished over the last 18 months,” said Mayor Gallego in a statement. “We made defeating COVID-19 a priority. When others backed down, I was proud to stand for the science and to make decisions that supported public health. We’ve provided the financial resources necessary to keep businesses afloat and directed more than $30 million in relief funds for families in need.”
Mayor Gallego is set to hold her State of the City address on Nov. 17.
Election results show Gallego has received 63% of votes as of Wednesday morning counts. See latest election results here.
