Two Arizona counties meet COVID-19 benchmarks to reopen schools

Editor's note: Arizona Department of Health Services incorrectly released information that stated that an additional two counties have met the benchmarks to reopen schools. The two counties that were incorrectly stated Thursday, August 20 were Cochise and Coconino counties.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, two counties in Arizona have passed all benchmarks to reopen schools.

The state says that both Apache and Yavapai counties have met the three benchmarks including cases, percent positive, and COVID-like illnesses.

ADHS recommends that all three benchmarks be met for two weeks to return to the classroom.

The ADHS school dashboard shows data for each county and what benchmarks they have yet to meet.
