Perry High School football team to cancel games, quarantine after positive COVID-19 case

GILBERT, AZ — Perry High School Varsity Football team in Gilbert to quarantine and cancel games after a player tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a letter sent to parents Thursday, 35 players have been instructed to quarantine for two weeks due to the positive test result.

The team has also canceled upcoming games against Casteel High School on Friday and Higley High School on November 6.

The school also says injuries and non-covid related illnesses has also played a role in them canceling the upcoming games.

"This difficult decision was made in collaboration with the CUSD District Administration and our Director of Health Services," the letter stated. "The safety and well-being of our students will always take first priority."
