In astatement by CEO and Superintendent of Phoenix Elementary School District Dr. Larry Weeks says:
"This decision does not come easily because we know for many of you that your work and family responsibilities make it very difficult for you to manage your child’s learning from home. The decision is made because the health and safety of our children, staff and families must be our top priority. With COVID-19 cases and deaths from the virus rising, we must take every precaution to keep our Phoenix #1 community healthy and safe.
We understand the importance of your work and need to financially support your family; therefore, as soon as we hear we can go back on to our campuses, we will provide a childcare option for those who need it. At this time, we understand that may be as early as August 17th. We will await the Governor’s next announcement."
The district also says more information will be released following a Governing Board Meeting on July 20.
