Shopping for a new phone? Hoping the battery lasts longer than the one you have now?
Experts say there are a few simple steps that can keep your battery from draining so fast.
An obvious one: turn on power-save mode.
It automatically cuts back on some functions to save battery life.
You'll have to decide if it's worth it.
Use Wi-Fi when possible.
Cellular connections use more battery power.
But when there is no Wi-Fi and you're not using Bluetooth, turn both off. They waste energy searching for connections.
A duller display screen uses less power. Turn brightness down and under display settings, set your phone to fade to black after a few seconds.
Get rid of duplicate apps or apps you don't use. They take up power running in the background.
Only use fast charging when you must. It can wear down your battery faster than regular charging.
And only charge until the phone has a full charge.
Also go to settings and to battery to find out which apps have used the most power.
