There's a lot of money waiting for Arizonans to claim, coming from old bank accounts, safe deposit boxes, payroll checks, tax refunds and more.
When accounts go dormant and banks or businesses can't find the owners, it's turned over to the state where the person lives and the state's Department of Revenue is tasked with finding the owner.
Right now, Arizona has more than $1.5 billion waiting to be claimed.
Department spokesperson Ed Greenberg says if the person has passed away, relatives can file a claim and go through the screening process.
The department gave us names of present or past Arizonans who have money waiting right now and their last known city of residence:
-John Emerith, Phoenix
