Want to get a bigger tax refund this year? You still have time to make that happen for 2016.
Of course that includes donating to charitable organizations, and you'll need to search for tax credits that may affect you.
If you have a 401k plan, and can afford it, put more money from your last check into the plan, which lowers your taxable income.
The same thing happens when you contribute to an IRA. And you can do this until April 15th of 2017, to count for this year.
You can also do things like paying your January mortgage on December 31st. That way, the mortgage interest can be deducted this year.
