Is your air conditioning ready for the Arizona summer?

We seem to have skipped right over spring, and jumped into summer.

But if your air conditioner isn’t ready for the heat, you may be in trouble.

Terry Church with Forrest Anderson Plumbing and Air Conditioning repair tell us there are a few ways to keep you’re a/c from giving out.

Change air filters every 30 days.  And you might want to spring for the thicker, more substantial filter.  That’s because thin filters just aren’t as good at keeping out dust and dirt.  That small monthly expense will keep the inner workings of your HVAC system clean which could save you thousands.

Install a programmable thermostat.  Church says the ones that are Wi-Fi enabled can be really helpful in containing costs. It allows you to control the temperature of your home from your phone and some can even alert you if something is wrong with the a/c unit.

Preventative Maintenance.  Have a reputable professional HVAC company come and check it out.  A maintenance check should include a basic “tune-up” for the unit, and give you an idea of what shape it’s in, and what repairs you may want to save for.  Church says the service shouldn’t cost more than $100.

Get three estimates.  If something is found during the maintenance check make sure to get a second and third opinion from other reputable companies.
