Heading out on vacation?
Do you leave your pet at a kennel or bring a sitter into your home?
And how do you find a "qualified" pet sitter?
There are a growing number of pet sitter finder apps.
Rover is one of them.
The app promises a "basic background" check and sitters are "approved by a team of specialists."
Instead, you may opt for Rover's deeper background check called "enhanced."
Also, make sure to ask for and then check out references.
And be sure your sitter is bonded and insured to protect against damage or theft.
The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters recommends the insurance be specific to "pet services."
If you're choosing a kennel, run an online search looking for reviews or complaints.
Ask take a tour. A bad smell or outdoor pens with no sun protection are bad signs.
And make sure vaccines are required for Distemper, Parvo and other diseases that could harm your dog.
Do your homework before leaving your pet, so you don't worry about them when you're away.
