New robocall blocker available to Cox customers

Call blocking software Nomorobo won the Federal Trade Commission's Robocall Challenge back in 2013.

It's designed to answer robocalls before they ever make it to your phone.

We've been following how the technology has slowly but surely become available to more consumers.

Originally only certain VoiP carriers were willing to support the blocking software.

One reason given by the industry is that Nomorobo's "simultaneous ring" technology is not compatible with their services.

We encouraged consumers to let their phone companies know having the technology was important to them.

At least one company listened.

Cox Communications says Nomorobo is now available to most of its customers in Arizona.

A spokesperson tells ABC15, "We are always looking for ways to help our customers, and are continuously listening to their request."
